Jalisco X, six-times champion in Spain, was bred by Miguel Tovar Sanz. He is in the Spanish Book of Merit with championships in both halter and performance divisions. Imported in 2000 by Symphony Farms to use for upper level dressage, Jalisco X had an illustrious show career until retirement due to an injury in 2002. His sire, Nostalgico V, is also listed in the Spanish Book of Merit, and was ranked 4th highest rated breeding stallion in Spain. Jalisco X's importation to America prompted Juan Matute of the Spanish Olympic Team, to state; "This is a very important horse for America." Jalisco X combines beauty, classic sport horse conformation, spectacular movement at all three gaits, and an unparalleled disposition. |

Jalisco's foals are exemplary, and his half Andalusian offspring are especially noteworthy. All his cross-bred foals, in spite of being from very different types mares, are quite Iberian in appearance and movement. They all have very correct and long legs, well set necks, and balanced bodies. They have extravagant, uphill, and engaged movement and friendly, confident personalities. Jalisco improves mares in correctness and bone, as well as balance and movement, and perhaps of greatest importance, temperament. Just for fun we dusted Jalisco off one Sunday morning in September and took him to a local open show. The halter classes are generally packed and the competition can be tough at these particular shows. Jalisco, in spite of being retired since 2002, remembered how to do his part and was crowned halter champion. |
