Jalisco X, six-times champion in Spain, was bred by Miguel Tovar Sanz. He is in the Spanish Book of Merit with championships in both halter and performance divisions. Imported to the U.S.A. in 2000 to compete in dressage, Jalisco X had a successful show career, often scoring 8’s for both his collected and extended gaits. Jalisco was retired to stud due to an injury in 2002. Jalisco’s sire, Nostalgico V, is also listed in the Spanish Book of Merit, and was ranked 4th highest rated breeding stallion in Spain. Jalisco X's importation to America prompted Juan Matute of the Spanish Olympic Team, to state; "This is a very important horse for America."
Jalisco X combines breathtaking beauty, classic Iberian conformation, spectacular Sport Horse movement in all three gaits, and an unparalleled disposition.
Jalisco's foals are exemplary, and his half Andalusian offspring are especially noteworthy. His foals, in spite of being from very different types mares, are uniform in appearance and movement. They have very correct and long legs with substantial bone, well set necks, and balanced bodies. They have extravagant, uphill, and engaged movement and friendly, curious, confident personalities. Jalisco consistently improves mares in correctness and substance, as well as balance and movement, and, of equally great importance, in temperament.
Jalisco X has been proven to carry the red gene. He has produced numerous chestnut
foals, including several PRE's. With so few red-producing PRE stallions to choose
from, Jalisco is invaluable to the breed, as he produces not just a desirable color,
but exemplary quality as well.
Jalisco also tends to throw little to no white, but
can sometimes be influenced by a mare with strong genes for white.
Jalisco X is owned by and stands at stud at Serpentine Farm.
