Imported from England in 2002, Helms Deep is the only son of British Super Star Royal Applause standing in America today.  Royal Applause, now standing at the Royal Studs in Great Britain, was a top-class sprinter and the second top-rated 2-year-old in Europe in 1995.  The winner of nine races at 5-6 furlongs from the ages of two to four, he won the Vaux Samson Conditions Stakes (Doncaster) as a three-year-old and was the champion older sprinter in Europe in 1997.  In 2005, Royal Applause was recognized as the top sire of two-year-olds on the basis of money earned over the previous three seasons.
Helms Deep’s half brother, Acclamation, was the runaway leading first-season sire in Britain and Ireland in 2007.  As a result, Acclamation’s breeding fee was raised from €9,000 to €30,000 for the 2008 season.

Helms Deep appointed himself well in American racing, earning over $128,000 on the turf before being retired in 2005.
Though British and French bred, Helms Deep’s pedigree is replete with Bold Ruler, not only the sire of Secretariat but also a recognized sire of Grand Prix jumpers.  Bold Ruler sired the jumper Mighty Ruler, a Grand Prix winner and member of the United States Equestrian Team at the Pan American Games in Mexico. He is also the grandsire of Allegro, a member of the gold medal team in the Pan American Games in 1969 and third placed jumper at the 1979 World Cup in Sweden.

Helms Deep's value as a sire transcends the racetrack, as he offers tremendous athleticism, a kind and generous character, and refinement to any hunter/jumper breeding program.

Helms Deep will be presented for Stallion approval to the American Warmblood Registry in October 2008. 

His 2008 introductory breeding fee is $500, including $100 booking fee, if booked prior to March 15. 2008.
