SF Amistoso (Spanish for "Friendly" - because he is!) is a stout and elegant youngster with an outgoing personality. He is athletic, beautiful, and lovely to work with.  His gaits are animated, forward, and uphill, and very correct for dressage, with an especially nice walk. He is of Sporthorse type and travels straight.

Amistoso has a strong presence and is curious and confident. When faced with new challenges he is always willing to try and will look for direction from his rider. He is nicley started under saddle and is forward and happy in his work. He is well on his way to being a bomb-proof all around horse anyone would enjoy.

With Amistoso's movement and trainability he will make an outstanding dressage mount for an amateur or youth who wishes to compete into the upper levels. Amistoso also shows a strong aptitude for jumping; he has been introduced to the free-jumping chute and shows both desire and ability to jump. He is also lovely on the trail. He has been to a show, so he knows how to handle all that craziness (he did well and the judges liked him - a lot!).

Amistoso recently succesfully completed the 2010 Sacramento Sheriff's Search-and-Rescue Sensory Training Clinic. He logged over 15 hours of intense training over two days, where he was exposed to many sights and situations, including being ridden through debris and past scary objects on a trail, allowing his rider to carry, toss, and catch objects, and being ridden closely among lit flares and gunfire. He also worked many obstacles, including gates, bridges, boxes, and dragging heavy objects, and backing and sidepassing through mazes. He also worked in drill teams of up to 28 riders. He was the youngest horse present at the clinc and was one of the more composed ones! He completed every phase of the clinic with exemplary behavior.

Amistoso is sound and healthy and probably will never require shoes. He is an easy keeper with no vices. He trailers well, ties, clips, bathes, and stands politely in the cross-ties for hoof trims and grooming.

Amistoso is sired by the PRE Andalusian stallion Jalisco X, six-times champion in Spain. He is in the Spanish Book of Merit with championships in both halter and performance divisions. He competed successfully in open dressage after his importation to the U.S.
Amistoso's dam, Jimena de la Parra, has produced numerous breeding stallions. She gives her tremendously trusting and cooperative nature to her foals.
