Jane Sommers, owner of Serpentine Farm, began riding at the age of seven. She has owned horses for over 30 years. After graduating with honors from Cal Poly, with a Bachelors degree in Animal Science, Jane embarked on a career as a breeding manager and trainer for several horse farms throughout California. She enjoyed several disciplines, including jumping, endurance, reining, and driving, and made dressage her passion after a fateful lesson in 1984.

For 20 years Jane also made a career as an artist of equine and wildlife subjects. She put that life on hold to spend more time developing the farm, but plans to return to it one day, if she can get a day off.

Besides horses, Jane’s heart is filled by border collies, barn cats, a tortoise named Desmond, and a few dancing dairy goats.
